Our direct client is currently seeking  a full-time “Database Developer/Administrator” at their College Park, Maryland facilities. This client specializes in data archiving, data retrieval and visualization, 3D modeling and simulation, software development and other advanced technologies. This client is a leader in innovation and problem solving technology challenges within their space. The client works with a number of large continually updated databases and applications on a state and federal government level.
The Database Developer/Administrator will work with full time developers and student researchers to design and develop new, and maintain existing databases. Primary responsibilities include close interaction with application developers to establish managed development environments and assist in the deployment of applications to the production environment. In addition to daily DBA tasks, applicants will be responsible for writing of data retrieval  queries and procedures, perform mining data analysis using custom built visualization tools, as well as development of data loading and visualization applications using several platforms and programming languages, such as J2EE, Flex, and PHP.

Good communication skills, teamwork, and a “will to learn” are essential. Prior real-world experience with a DBMS, Java, web development, and software engineering practices is a plus.
