Our direct client is currently seeking multiple full-time “Software Developers” who can fill the roles of software developers, software architects, information visualization specialists, and user interface designers at their College Park, Maryland facilities. This client specializes in data archiving, data retrieval and visualization, 3D modeling and simulation, software development and other advanced technologies. This client is a leader in innovation and problem solving technology challenges within their space. The client works with a number of large continually updated databases and applications on a state and federal government level.

Responsibilities Include:

• Oversight of and participation in design, development, and implementation of software products using and integrating various technologies.
• Providing leadership in the creation and utilization of methodologies, standards, and guidelines impacting application development.
• Mentoring the development team on adherence to these standards.
• Participating in the development of new features within existing applications and ensuring the integrity of those enhancements.
• Identifying and implementing architectural improvements to improve software capabilities to meet scalability, availability, security, maintainability and performance goals.
• Overseeing the technical delivery of projects to ensure best practices are followed.
• Being creative and providing useful input to design elements of software and functions

Desired skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Strong communication, organizational and time management skills
• Significant experience with any of the following:
     o HTML, JS, CSS and related frameworks
     o Actionscript 3 and Flex
     o Java (Spring and Hibernate experience a plus)
     o ColdFusion
     o PHP
     o Database programming, particularly with PostgreSQL
     o Linux
