CentreIT is seeking a fulltime Developer/SysAdmin/Network Engineer for a MD client at their College Park, MD facilities. This client specializes in data archiving, data retrieval and visualization, 3D modeling and simulation, software development and other advanced technologies. This client is a leader in innovation and problem solving technology challenges within their space. The client works with a number of large continually updated databases and applications on a state and federal government level.

Position Description
Serves as the Systems Administrator and Software Developer overseeing the day-to-day Lab operations, maintenance, and support of undergraduate and graduate research initiatives. The Systems Admin/developer is also responsible for the 24/7 maintenance and operations of the clients production level systems. The System Administrator will also spend up to 50% of his/her time leading team based software development projects including mentoring junior programmers and helping to successfully deploy applications to the production environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Plan and maintain network/hardware of 3 server rooms and 2 development labs.
• Manage 3-5 undergraduate/graduate student IT assistants.
• Serve as lead software developer on one or more team-based software development projects.

Required Skills
• Familiarity administrating Linux (CENTOS, RHEL) Servers
• Network Design and Switch/Firewall Configuration
• Experience managing multiple web servers and application servers
• PC Hardware Troubleshooting
• Knowledge of IP based networking and technologies such as SSH, HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, RDP, FTP
• Strong verbal, presentation, and writing ability
• Shell scripting and process automation
• Object Oriented programming

Desired Skills
• Experience with Apache, Jetty, and ActiveMQ
• Knowledge of Cisco and Dell networking equipment
• Familiarity administrating Windows Server 2003/2008 and Active Directory
• Experience with public sector, transportation, and transit agencies
• Experience with OpenBSD Packet Filter
• Backup planning and implementation
• Experience with large datasets and databases
